We are excited to announce a new lunch program at Carden Conejo. We have hired Paulette Lambert, R.E., CDE and Director of Nutrition at the California Health and Longevity Institute to help us improve the quality and nutrition of our school lunches. Ms. Lambert has redesigned the menus to include increased quantities of vegetables, fruits, whole grains, leaner protein, and less saturated fats, sodium, and sugar while relying less on prepackaged, preserved foods. We have also hired CF Food Kitchen & Catering (Edwing Flores) (www.cffoodkitchen.com), a catering company in the valley, to follow these recommendations and to allow for healthier, fresher, homemade food preparation. The new four-week rotation menu will include more homemade items with exciting, kid friendly options such as Nona’s baked ziti, chicken parmesan with homemade marinara, turkey tacos, healthy mac and cheese, and wonderful sub sandwich on freshly baked whole grain rolls. Our goal is to expose our students to a variety of real, wholesome foods. Click here to see the four-week menu.
The new price for these upgraded lunch choices are $4.50 per day.
Parents also have a new way to view, order, and pay for lunches using the School Lunch Choice online registration service. Once your family account has been created on School Lunch Choice, you can look at the upcoming month’s menu items, choose lunches for your children, and pay using a credit card online. Click here to go directly to the online ordering site. Parents may also bring a check or cash to the school office and we will put the credit on the parent's account to be used to purchase lunches without needing a credit card.
Click here for step-by-step instructions for setting up your family account on School Lunch Choice and placing your lunch orders.
